Roundup: Celtics blow past Sonics for 10th consecutive win

BOSTON -- Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen each scored 18 points to lift the Boston Celtics to their 10th straight victory, 111-82 over the Seattle SuperSonics on Wednesday night.

Paul Pierce added 14 points and 11 assists for Boston, which improved to 12-0 at home against the Western Conference.

Kevin Durant scored 16 points for Seattle, which dropped its sixth straight and has lost 10 of 11.

The Sonics had no answers on defense as the Celtics operated effortlessly and had 31 assists on 45 field goals. Boston's average margin of victory in the last five games is 21 points.

Seattle has allowed 112 points per game during its losing streak.

Garnett scored nine of Boston's first 13 points in the second half as the Celtics increased the lead to 77-48 with 7:48 remaining in the third quarter.

Pierce scored all 14 of his points in the first quarter to help Boston take a 34-24 lead. The Celtics extended the lead to 64-44 at the half thanks to 27 points from their reserves, led by Eddie House with nine. Full story

Warriors 117, Raptors 106

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Monta Ellis scored 33 points and Baron Davis had 23 points and 15 assists in the Golden State Warriors' seventh victory in eight games over the Toronto Raptors.

Stephen Jackson added 19 points for the Warriors, who overcame several awkward matchups with Toronto's larger lineup to beat the Raptors for the fourth straight time in Oakland. Golden State took an early 20-point lead before falling behind in the fourth quarter, but Davis and Ellis confidently led a comeback for the Warriors' third straight win.

T.J. Ford scored 13 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter for the Raptors, who lost for the sixth time in eight games. Anthony Parker added 22 points for Toronto, which lost to the Lakers one night earlier to open a five-game West Coast road trip.

Toronto played its seventh straight game without leading scorer Chris Bosh, who hopes to return from his sore right knee during the trip.

Jazz 114, Bucks 110

MILWAUKEE -- Carlos Boozer had a go-ahead layup with 46.7 seconds and the Utah Jazz narrowly avoided another surprising road loss, beating the Milwaukee Bucks.

Deron Williams led Utah with 26 points and 13 assists, his ninth straight double-double and 41st overall. Ronnie Brewer scored 21 and Boozer added 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Jazz, who bounced back from their 12-point loss at Chicago the previous night.

Charlie Villanueva and Michael Redd scored 26 points each to lead the Bucks, who nearly pulled out a victory thanks to Charlie Bell's strong outside shooting in the fourth quarter. Bell scored 24 and tied a season high with five 3-pointers, including two in a 12-0 run midway through the fourth quarter that allowed Milwaukee to take a 99-89 lead.

Utah went seven minutes without a field goal down the stretch, but used good free-throw shooting to stay in the game.

Knicks 91, Heat 88

MIAMI -- Jamal Crawford scored 23 points, and the New York Knicks wasted most of a 14-point fourth-quarter lead before beating the Miami Heat and snapping a seven-game losing streak.

Zach Randolph had 19 points and 12 rebounds, and Nate Robinson scored 17 points for New York, which won on the one-year anniversary of the Knicks announcing that coach Isiah Thomas earned a contract extension because the team had shown "evident progress."

The Knicks are 23-61 since.

Still, that's light years better than the Heat, who lost for the 33rd time in 36 games and extended the NBA's worst record to 11-52. Ricky Davis led Miami with 27 points, Shawn Marion added 15 points and 17 rebounds and the Heat raced out to a 14-2 lead, but that slipped away by the time the first quarter was over.

Nuggets 108, Grizzlies 86

DENVER -- Kenyon Martin scored 23 points, and Carmelo Anthony had 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Denver Nuggets to a win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Allen Iverson, third in the NBA in scoring, played with a fractured ring finger on his right hand and had just eight points on 2-for-12 shooting and didn't play in the fourth quarter. Linas Kleiza had 19 points for the Nuggets, who ended a two-game skid.

Juan Carlos Navarro had 16 points off the bench for the Grizzlies, who have lost 16 straight road games and 17 of their last 19 overall.

The Nuggets took control of the game in the middle quarters. After falling behind early, they built a 13-point lead in the second quarter and held a 46-36 advantage at halftime.
