Barkley makes another big donation for wildfire victims

STATELINE, Nev. -- Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley is making another big contribution to help the victims of a wildfire that destroyed more than 250 homes at Lake Tahoe two years ago.

Barkley donated $100,000 a year ago to South Tahoe's Community Disaster Resource Center to benefit victims of the 2007 Angora Fire.

Center chairman Dick Schwarte says they received another check for $90,000 last week on the eve of the 20th annual American Century Celebrity Golf Championship.

Barkley is a fan favorite at the tourney that begins next Friday at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course. He toured the disaster area shortly after the fire and hosted a dinner for 100 firefighters.

South Lake Tahoe Mayor Jerry Birdwell called Barkley a true friend who has become a part of the community.

Barkley gets aways with everything.  And I mean everything.

No one else could be arrested for DWI, have a turrible looking mugshot, and told the cops he was rushing to get to a girls house that gives good...you understand...and still have a job!!  The guy is teflon because of his personality.

This is another round of CB reinforcements...charity.  Further proof

sir charles is one of the most unpretentious superstars to play pro sports in the last 50 years. he is also charitable, kind and he remembers those he met on the way up. a class act, with a great wit. his rare missteps are forgiven because he owns up to them, and moves on, like a man. helping out should not be scorned by those who have never done it, good job charles.

It's always good to hear these kind of stories. You can't imagine what these people have gone through until you are actually in their shoes. Every little bit helps.. 2 thumbs up to the Round Mound of Rebound
