NEW YORK -- A new design for the Brooklyn home of the New Jersey Nets features weathered steel and glass, with a canopy that juts out like the bill of a baseball cap.
Developer Bruce Ratner unveiled the new design for the Barclays Center on Wednesday. It replaces a design from renowned architect Frank Gehry.
The Barclays Center is the centerpiece of the multi-building Atlantic Yards project.
Ratner took Gehry off the $1 billion project in June, citing cost concerns. He was replaced by the firm Ellerbe Becket. The price tag for the project was taken down to $800 million.
Ratner said SHoP Architects will be joining with Ellerbe Becket on the design.
