Harris injury will keep him out until at least January

--G Manny Harris suffered a burn on his right foot at the Creative Artists Agency camp at Nike in Portland, Ore., three weeks ago. He's developed an ulcer on the foot and will be sidelined until at least January. "I saw the pictures of it and I said, 'Oh, my God,' " coach Byron Scott said. Harris' agent, Henry Thomas, called it a "freezer-type burn."

--G Kyrie Irving has a special plan for his first NBA paycheck, rumored to be issued on Jan. 1. "I'm going to present it to my father and give him a big hug and yell, 'We made it!' " he said. "I'll put it in my bank account, honestly. I'm trying to save up as much as possible."

Kyrie Irving is better than advertised. He's expected to be a solid professional, right from the start. He admitted he has a chip on his shoulder stemming from people saying he didn't have the talent to be the No. 1 pick in a normal draft.

Other than Antawn Jamison and perhaps Irving, who is going to score on this team? They just don't have enough players to put the ball in the basket. Points will be at a premium.

"Honestly, either way, I would have to earn my position here. I really don't have this attitude where I need to start or feel like I should start. I feel like my play will dictate that and as we continue to grow throughout training camp, hopefully, I'll be a starter. If not, I'll come off the bench and give my teammates my energy off the bench. We'll see how it goes." -- Guard Kyrie Irving, on being in the starting lineup.
