Last victory at Boston? Try 2006

  •

--The Knicks have lost 12 consecutive games in Boston, including two playoff losses last spring. The team has never beaten the Celtics at the TD Garden during the "Big Three" era and it's been almost six years since the Knicks have come away with a win in Boston. That last victory came Nov. 24, 2006, when Isiah Thomas coached the team to a 101-77 blowout win against a Celtics team that had Paul Pierce flanked by Sebastian Telfair and Wally Szczerbiak, with a rookie named Rajon Rondo coming off the bench playing limited minutes for Doc Rivers. The Knicks will get one more try during the regular season when they return to Boston on March 4.

--A sourced-based report by "The Daily," a gossip website run by media mogul Ruppert Murdoch, said Mike D'Antoni would be fired this weekend. The report said team owner James Dolan targeted this weekend because New York would be distracted by the New York football Giants in the Super Bowl and the negative publicity would be mostly overlooked. The mainstream newspapers that cover the team on a daily basis have shot down any suggestions that a decision had already been made about D'Antoni's fate. He is in the final year of his contract, but there have been no indications that he is on the hot seat.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"That's two in a row that we had legitimate chances to win." -- Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni on a second straight tough loss that came down to one final possession.
