Clippers' Billups vows to return from injury, says he's not retiring
CLEVELAND -- Clippers guard Chauncey Billups says he won't let his season-ending injury also finish his NBA career.
Billups tore his left Achilles tendon on Monday night, ending his first season with Los Angeles. He said the injury has left him "deflated" but he's confident the Clippers will be able to survive without him and can still have "a special season."
After surgery, which has not yet been scheduled, Billups said he plans to stay around the Clippers to help them any way he can.
The 35-year-old Billups will need eight months to recover from the injury, which will also cost him a chance to play on the U.S. Olympic team this summer.
Billups said his career is not over and he "will go out on my own. I will be back."
