Nash perfect from the field
--On the night he was selected to his eighth career All-Star Game and franchise-record tying sixth as a Phoenix Sun, Steve Nash was a perfect 7-of-7 of the field Thursday, the second time this season he has made at least seven field goals without a miss. It has only been done five times in the NBA overall this season and Nash has done so twice.
Nash is now shooting 57.1 percent from the field this season. He tallied his NBA-leading 12th double-double of points and assists with 14 points and a game-high 13 assists.
--The Suns are now a miserable 5-7 at home this season and the wins at US Airways Center (Charlotte, Memphis, Milwaukee, etc.) aren't exactly Earth-shattering. A local guy, like Phoenix product Channing Frye, knows the kind of culture shock this is for Suns fans used to winning ways when they come to see Planet Orange play ball.
"The fans are doing a great job, coming out here and supporting us and we just have to take advantage of the opportunities that we have here, and definitely start winning at home," Frye said. "This is starting to really suck and I think the fans want to see us win; they come out, pay good money to see us play well and (Thursday) we just didn't do it. We didn't execute. But we're going to continue to work hard, go on this road trip and do the best we can."
--For the second time this season, the Suns were victimized by the Houston bench.
In two games against the Suns, the Rockets' bench has scored a total of 103 points (51.5 points per contest). After putting four reserves in double-figures in the first meeting (46 points), Houston had five bench players score 10 or more points Thursday (57 points). Wednesday night in Portland, the Rockets bench scored a season-high 66 points, which came a little more than a week after scoring 61 points against New York (Jan. 28).
QUOTE TO NOTE
"You've got to hand it to them, but such a winnable game for us. We didn't convert in so many areas so it makes it a really disappointing loss. We never should have been in that situation." -- Phoenix guard Steve Nash.
