Jennings' free-agent talk doesn't bother Skiles

  •

Brandon Jennings' declaration that he may leave the Bucks after his rookie contract expires hardly came as a surprise to anyone on the Bucks organization.

Jennings, the Bucks' 22-year-old point guard, is in the third year of his contract and is eligible for an extension this summer.

If Jennings rejects the extension, he would likely play two more years with the Bucks and become an unrestricted free agent in 2014.

Jennings, the Bucks' leading scorer, didn't rule out signing an extension, saying he was going to "keep my options open."

Jennings, who had 24 points in the Bucks' 113-112 victory over the Cavaliers in overtime on Friday night, said he didn't have issues living in Milwaukee or with Bucks officials.

Considering most players in Jennings' position would do the same thing, his statements didn't rattle Bucks officials.

"I don't have a problem with that at all," Bucks Coach Scott Skiles said of Jennings' remarks. "Look, there's a system in place and players operate within the system. If people had a problem with it, they should have changed the system."

Jennings insisted his uncertain status with the team won't adversely affect him in going forward.

"I'm going to keep playing hard every night for the Bucks as long as I'm there," said Jennings, whose next game is Saturday night against the Magic in Milwaukee.
