Pistons have success attacking the basket
--Points in the paint have been a major reason why the Pistons have a four-game winning streak. They are averaging 51.0 during that stretch, including a season-high 56 against New Jersey Friday. That has boosted their season average to 40.5.
"We want to be an attack team, and being an attack team is trying to live in the paint," coach Lawrence Frank said. "We want to be an up-tempo team, a team that makes quick decisions and plays unselfishly. We want to play inside-out basketball. It's all part of the direction we'd like to go."
--Center Ben Wallace, one of the worst free-throw shooters in NBA history, finally visited the foul line late in Detroit's 28th game this season Friday. Wallace had played 385 minutes without attempting a foul shot before he was hacked by Jordan Williams with 4:12 remaining. Not surprisingly, Wallace missed both free throws.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"We try to attack early and it's been opening up a lot of things for us the last few games." -- Pistons forward Tayshaun Prince, after his team scored a season-high 109 points Friday.
