Bosh joins James and Wade as All-Stars

  •

The third member of the Miami Heat's Big Three had to wait a week longer than LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, but Chris Bosh's ticket has been punched for the Feb. 26 NBA All-Star Game in Orlando.

Bosh was among the seven Eastern Conference reserves selected by coaches after James and Wade were voted in as starters in fan balloting.

"I'm just happy because my heroes growing up were 10-time All-Stars and stuff like that, so it's really cool just having a crack at being as successful as they were in some capacity," said Bosh, who scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in Friday's 106-89 victory over the Washington Wizards, with the Atlanta Hawks up next on Sunday on the third stop of this six-game trip.

It is Bosh's seventh trip to the All-Star Game and second as a member of the Heat.

"Maybe one day when I'm with my kids and we're having a conversation I can tell them, 'Daddy was a bad man back in my day,' and have like a little resume," he said.

Bosh was averaging 19.2 points and 7.8 rebounds at the time of his selection, playing some of his best ball when Wade was sidelined by an ankle injury.

He said he would still be the same player even without the All-Star recognition.

"I just press on and just keep doing what I'm doing," he said.

He said he remains appreciative of the recognition.

"I mean, I'm definitely aware of how things have gone in my career," he said. "I just considered it for me to be in the right situation at the right time.

"I've worked pretty hard. I'm just happy to be able to accomplish the things that I've accomplished so far and I hope that I get better."
