Injuries continue to pile up for Hornets

  •

,

--If the Hornets' injuries haven't reached epidemic proportions they at least seem a bit contagious. After resting his bruised knee for three games, G Jarrett Jack played against the Bulls on Wednesday, but wasn't able to go against the Blazers on Friday. F Chris Kaman was ready to go on Friday -- until he hurt his ankle during pregame warm-ups. So both of them joined G Eric Gordon, F Carl Landry and F/C Jason Smith in street clothes.

--The Hornets' roster has been constantly changing because of injuries and a never-ending search for improvement. In 27 games, they have played 11 players who had previously played for the team.

--Even though the Hornets' top three power forwards -- Chris Kaman, Carl Landry and Jason Smith -- were all sidelined. Still New Orleans managed to outscore Portland, 54-30, in the paint.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"I'm pretty sure teams are going to be calling for (F Trevor Ariza at the trade deadline), a veteran team, because he does the things that help you win games. I hate that we haven't been able to capitalize on some of the plays he's given us." -- Hornets Coach Monty Williams on one of his few dependable players.
