Roster Report
PLAYER NOTES
--C Anderson Varejao is sidelined for four to six weeks with a broken right wrist. With him out of the lineup, that's when the Cavs miss him even more. He defends the pick-and-roll, sets screens, is so active and rebounds the ball. He's always around the ball. He has good instincts. The Cavs can't duplicate what he does on the court. Semih Erden has replaced him as the starting center. He was held scoreless against the Kings and had three rebounds. He was 0-of-1 from the field.
--The Cavs' shooting percentage keeps going down. They shot 36 percent from the field but still beat the Kings. They have only two players making at least half of their shots, and both are centers: Anderson Varejao (51.4 percent) and Semih Erden (57.6 percent). Guard-forward Christian Eyenga, on the other hand, has gone in the dumper. He's down to 15.8 percent from the field. If there's a Mendoza Line in basketball, he's below it.
--G Ben Uzoh might become the backup point guard if the Cavs decide to deal guard Ramon Sessions. It sure appears as if Sessions will be playing for another team after the March 15 deadline. The Los Angeles Lakers probably aren't the only other team interested in his services. Sessions would be missed, however. He has not only become the team leader in assists (5.6 per game), he's tied with Daniel Gibson for first in 3-point percentage (42.9 percent). All this from a player who was extremely limited from the 3-point line before this season.
MEDICAL WATCH
--C Anderson Varejao (broken right wrist) was injured in the Milwaukee game on Feb. 10. He'll miss four to six weeks.
--G Anthony Parker (strained lower back) has yet to practice after his back injury on Jan. 29. He's done some light shooting after practice. The Cavs hope to get him back before the All-Star break.
--G Daniel Gibson (sprained left ankle) was injured in the Indiana game on Wednesday. He could miss a few games.
