Higher-ups attend game as trade deadline looms

The Sports Xchange

--Judging by who was in attendance for the Magic in Chicago, it is obvious that the team has not made a final decision on what to do with Dwight Howard and his trade request. The magnitude of the decision is weighing heavily on the entire franchise. The trade deadline is March 15. Magic chief executive officer Alex Martins, who rarely travels to road games, was in attendance. Also there was team chairman Dan DeVos, the son of owner Rich Devos.

--The Magic are in the midst of the toughest stretch of opponents this season. After playing the Bulls Thursday night, they will follow with the Pacers, Heat and Spurs. They then play the New Jersey Nets -- Dwight Howard's first choice of trade destinations -- on March 16, the day after the trade deadline.

"A lot of these games just come down to makes and misses at the end." -- Magic coach Stan Van Gundy.
