Attendance sagging, but moves up charts

The Sports Xchange

--The Pistons' improvement in the last 2 1/2 months and a parade of musical acts at halftime, have lifted them from the attendance cellar. After ranking last in attendance a majority of the season, the Pistons have moved ahead of Indiana (14,058 entering Monday) and New Jersey (13,812) in that category at 14,383. That's still their lowest average since they moved into the 22,076-seat Palace of Auburn Hills during the 1988-89 season. Their lowest previous average attendance at The Palace was 14,813 during the 2000-01 season. Their average home attendance last season was 16,660.

--With their 103-97 loss at Indiana Monday, the Pistons finished with a 7-26 road record. They have won just 26 games on the road over the last three seasons. They went 9-32 last season and 10-31 in 2009-10. The last time they had 10 or fewer road wins in three straight seasons was 1978-79 through 1980-81 when they went 8-33, 3-38 and 7-34, respectively.

"We'll continue to fight and claw, but obviously we are far from the finished product." -- Coach Lawrence Frank after his team fell to 24-41 Monday.
