--F Matt Barnes is of added importance to the Lakers in the first round of the playoffs now that starting small forward Metta World Peace has six more games of NBA suspension to fulfill. Barnes is hopeful he can play through a sprained right ankle and bring energy off the bench, with Devin Ebanks likely starting in World Peace's place.
--F Devin Ebanks started this season as the Lakers' starting small forward, and he ended it there also. He didn't play much in between, losing playing time to Metta World Peace and Matt Barnes. But Ebanks will likely line up against Denver small forward Danilo Gallinari in the playoffs' first round, and Ebanks warmed up with 14 points in the regular-season finale at Sacramento on Thursday.
--G Kobe Bryant sat out Thursday night at Sacramento, holding his season scoring average at 27.9 points. He would've needed to play and score 38 points to pass Kevin Durant for the league lead this season, but he said team goals took priority.
