Attendance up despite losing season

The Sports Xchange

--The Raptors may have had a horrible season but they still caught the imagination of fans. Despite finishing with a 23-43 record and out of the playoffs for the fourth straight season, the Raptors averaged 17,000 fans in 33 home games, up about 200 from a year ago.

--Raptors coach Dwane Casey is not one to get caught in numbers, especially when it was apparent he was spending the entire season trying to instill a defensive attitude in a team not known for it.

But Casey had to be at least mildly impressed with his team's 23-43 record since it represents one more win than the team achieved in the 82-game 2010-11 regular season.

"We haven't been to the playoffs for four years, so I'm the first person that is very thirsty for making the playoffs. It's got to be next year. Everybody is very committed to do it next year. We have to." -- Forward Andrea Bargnani.
