--The Grizzlies have traded forward Dante Cunningham to the Timberwolves in exchange for guard Wayne Ellington, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.
Ellington averaged 6.1 points last season for the Wolves in his third NBA year, while Cunningham averaged 5.2 points and 3.8 rebounds for Memphis in his third NBA season.
The two players make about the same salary, a little over $2 million a season.
--The Grizzlies' summer league team in Las Vegas includes Griz rookie Tony Wroten (25th overall pick) and second-year guards Jeremy Pargo and Josh Selby. Assistant Lloyd Pierce is coaching the team in their five-game schedule.
--Memphis is a basketball town and last season's NBA TV ratings prove it.
The Memphis market, with 2.7 rating, finished atop Nielsen's 56 largest markets in viewership of NBA regular season games on ESPN. Memphis was TNT's fourth-highest rated market for regular season games, with a 3.1. For regular season games broadcast on ABC, Memphis was fifth with a 5.7 rating despite the games being on Sunday and the Grizzlies not playing in any of those games. For all of TNT's playoffs coverage, Memphis' 6.7 rating average was third in metered markets. Then in the NBA Finals on ABC, Memphis was sixth with a 15.9 rating.
