--G Jason Kidd was arrested for DUI on July 15 after he crashed his SUV following a night of partying in Long Island's tony Hamptons area. Kidd tweeted apologies via Twitter a few days later, saying, "I regret any disruption my accident last weekend may have caused members of the community and want to thank the local authorities. I'd also like to thank my family and friends for their support." Kidd, 39, signed a three-year, $9.5 million contract with the Knicks on July 11 as one of the team's most important free agency additions.
--F James White, a former high school phenom who has yet to make it in the NBA, signed a one-year minimum contract (guaranteed) and played three games for the Knicks in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. White did not blow anyone away with his trademark athleticism but instead went through the motions for a team that went 0-5. White said his intention was to get acclimated with coach Mike Woodson's system, and he's aiming to earn a rotation spot as a wing defender.
--G Pablo Prigioni has yet to officially sign with the Knicks, but the 35-year-old Argentinian point guard already grabbed the attention of Knicks fans after a strong performance in his native country's 86-80 loss to the U.S. in a friendly on July 22 in Barcelona. Prigioni, a pass-first guard who will be the oldest rookie in NBA history, had eight points, six assists and five rebounds in 33 minutes for Argentina.
--F Kostas Papanikolaou (6-8, Greece, second round, No. 48) will play in Europe at least another year. He's big and rugged at 6-8, 235 pounds.
--G Iman Shumpert (torn ACL in left knee) has begun the rehabilitation process after undergoing reconstructive surgery. He is not attempting to rush the process and is aiming for a December return.
--G Baron Davis (ruptured ACL and MCL, torn patellar tendon) has not made any definitive decisions about his future. After undergoing surgery, he will require a 12-month recovery, which means his return to the NBA would not be until the 2013-14 season, when he will be 35.
