The opening weeks of the season tell you a lot about how a team fights. Do they come out of the gate, swinging and pummeling? Or do they take their time and hold their best punches back to strike when the opponent gets weak?

The Knicks and Grizzlies have come out of the gate swinging, and right now they're beating up the NBA and making a point. They're setting a tone -- and there's something to be said about that.
San Antonio is winning too, but you get the sense they're still holding back. Miami also seems to coast for stretches while looking monstrous in others.
And some teams swing too hard out of the gate and exhaust themselves. You wonder whether the Sixers and Timberwolves are vulnerable to that, and if Dallas has already fallen victim to it.
Pace is important, as is keeping your body protected. Some fight like boxers, with technique and style, while others fight like brawlers, and it's tooth and nail every second.
The Pistons fight like your friend who got hammered on tequila and mouthed off to the giant biker who just got out of prison. To each their own.
But the key is to figure out a strategy you can sustain. Can the Grizzlies and Knicks keep tossing haymakers? That's how power rankings turn into playoff spots.
With that, here's this week's rankings. Ring the bell.
