Players know they're about to have nearly a week without games, practices, shootarounds, media or any other responsibilities -- and that affects their focus, resolve and, in some cases, effort.
But there are also teams who are showing what they're made of. Miami is improving, getting the kind of execution they've needed. The Spurs remain on top this week even as their stars take a well-earned rest on account of bumps and bruises. They simply keep doing what they do.
So while some teams tumble because of injuries (Chicago) and some take a fall as their discipline lapses (Warriors), the best teams are maintaining resolve.
Like the players always say, it's more mental than physical.
Here are this week's Power Rankings.
