MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The Celtics said Kevin Garnett and Courtney Lee are expected to miss Saturday night's game against the Memphis Grizzlies with left ankle injuries.
The Grizzlies said center Marc Gasol will sit out with an abdominal tear, and coach Lionel Hollins said forward Zach Randolph won't start because of an internal matter.
Randolph is the team's leading rebounder at 11.6 boards. In the past, he has sat out the start of games for being late to practice or a shootaround.
Boston coach Doc Rivers didn't know when Garnett hurt his ankle. The Celtics second-leading scorer at 14.9 points, he had 16 points and 12 rebounds in Boston's 104-94 loss at Dallas on Friday night.
"I don't know if (Garnett) hurt it in the game (Friday) night, or if it has been a couple of games. I have no idea," Rivers said before the game. "Whenever somebody does anything with an ankle, they do an MRI because that's what they do.
"So, him and Courtney, if Courtney hasn't had one, he'll have one too."
Lee, a 6-foot-5 guard, crumpled to the court with 1:21 left in the game after spraining his ankle.
Gasol had favored the abdominal injury for several games, including not jumping center to start recent game in order to avoid straining the injury. He is averaging 14.3 points and 7.8 rebounds.
