Lopez done for season with torn ACL, MCL

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Timberwolves guard Felipe Lopez is expected to miss the entire season after tearing ligaments in his left knee.

Lopez was injured in the first quarter of Saturday night's 95-83 exhibition loss to the Boston Celtics in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, when he charged into Boston's Paul Pierce and twisted awkwardly.

An MRI on Sunday revealed that Lopez's medial collateral and anterior cruciate ligaments are torn.

Lopez is the sixth Timberwolves player to go down with an injury this preseason. Terrell Brandon (knee) and Joe Smith (groin) will miss the Oct. 30 opener against Denver. Wally Szczerbiak (toe) is expected to begin practicing again this week. Troy Hudson (groin) has been limited in practice and exhibition games, and guard Randy Livingston (ankle) could be sidelined for more than a week.

Lopez averaged 23.8 minutes and 11.3 points in Minnesota's first four exhibition games.
