News briefs: T-Wolves' Strickland cited in hit-and-run accident

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Timberwolves guard Rod Strickland was issued a citation for a hit-and-run accident involving an unattended vehicle near a downtown Minneapolis nightclub.

According to the police report, a man said his parked car was hit by another vehicle that left the scene and identified the driver as Strickland. The damage to the man's car was unknown.

Strickland refused to provide information when questioned Sunday night, the police report said. He was charged with hit-and-run property damage, issued a misdemeanor citation and released. His Range Rover was impounded. Full story

Hornets' Davis works out; not practicing yet

WESTWEGO, La. -- New Orleans Hornets point guard Baron Davis has resumed limited workouts following arthroscopic knee surgery last month. He is not expected to return to the lineup until the second week in March.

While the Hornets practiced Monday, Davis worked alone for about 20 minutes on an auxiliary court. He ran without limping during a brief one-on-one drill with reserve point guard Robert Pack.

Davis, who spent some of his rehabilitation time in Vancouver and Los Angeles, returned to New Orleans on Sunday. A definite date for his return has not been set.

Pistons begin selling playoff tickets

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- The Detroit Pistons started selling tickets to the team's NBA playoff games Monday.

The tickets are being sold in sets of 16, or one per possible game, and prices are $208 to $1,600. Buyers will get refunds for games that do not take place.

Individual game tickets for Round 1 go on sale April 4 at 9 a.m. Those tickets cost $10-$85. Should the Pistons advance, Round 2 tickets would cost $12-$95, Eastern Conference finals tickets $14-$110 and NBA finals tickets $16-$150.

Cavs activate rookie Parker, put Coles on injured list

CLEVELAND -- Rookie guard Smush Parker was activated from the injured list by the Cleveland Cavaliers after missing seven games with a sprained right ankle.

Parker was activated shortly before the Cavs' game against New Jersey. Guard Bimbo Coles went on the injured list with the flu.

The 6-foot-4 Parker was hurt Feb. 5. He is averaging 6.1 points and 2.3 assists in 45 games -- 17 starts -- this season.

The undrafted free agent from Fordham has been a nice surprise for the Cavs this season.

Coles has been hampered by injuries all season. He's averaging 4.9 points and 2.7 assists in 21 games.

Blazers' Davis misses game with respiratory infection

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Portland Trail Blazers center Dale Davis missed Tuesday night's game with the Atlanta Hawks because of an upper respiratory infection.

Arvydas Sabonis started in place of Davis.

Davis also is expected to miss Wednesday night's game in Denver.

He's averaging 7.4 points and 7.5 rebounds.
