Van Gundy, McAdoo fined for verbally abusing refs

MIAMI -- Miami Heat coach Stan Van Gundy was fined $7,500 by the NBA on Saturday for verbally abusing game officials and failing to leave the court in a timely manner after his team lost to Toronto.

Heat assistant coach Bob McAdoo was fined $5,000 for verbal abuse of the officials at the end of Miami's 89-86 defeat Tuesday night.

Van Gundy said his fine was what he expected.

"It was very consistent with what they've done with everybody else," he said. "I wasn't happy about Bob's fine. They got some inaccurate information. Plus I felt bad, because he wouldn't have been out there if I wasn't out there."

Van Gundy rushed toward the officials and screamed after no foul was called on the Raptors' Chris Bosh as he defended Eddie Jones' 3-point attempt just before the final buzzer.
