CLEVELAND -- Free agent center Jake Tsakalidis, who played 40 games for Memphis last season, signed an offer sheet with the
Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday.
The Grizzlies have 15 days to match the Cavs' proposal to the 7-foot-2
Tsakalidis, who averaged 4.3 points and 3.2 rebounds in 13.3 minutes
last season.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
The Cavs have been shopping for another veteran big man to back up
center Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Earlier this summer, Cleveland traded
forward/center Tony Battie and two draft picks to Orlando.
Tsakalidis was selected with the 25th overall pick in the 2000 draft by
Phoenix. He played four seasons in the Greek League before joining the
NBA.
