| 31. Atlanta Hawks |
SALIM STOUDAMIRE, SG, ARIZONA: Stoudamire is a superb shooter who must learn how to handle the ball and defend to maximize his full potential. Luckily, he'll have plenty of chances to learn on the job in a low-pressure situation.
| 32. L.A. Clippers |
DANIEL EWING, PG, DUKE: Ewing is a winner, plain and simple. He's not the greatest athlete but is fearless in getting to the basket and has a solid mid-range game. Like former Duke teammate Chris Duhon, also a second-rounder, he'll have a future in the league.
| 33. New Orleans Hornets |
BRANDON BASS, PF, LOUISIANA STATE: A great pick for the Hornets, who are basically starting from scratch. He'll join fellow undersized forward David West in giving productive minutes next year.
| 34. Utah Jazz |
C.J. MILES, SG, SKYLINE HS (Texas): The Jazz's last prep pick was DeShawn Stevenson, who never panned out. Miles has good size and decent skills, but unless he enrolls at Texas, we see the NBDL in his future.
| 35. Portland Trail Blazers |
RICKY SANCHEZ, SF/PF, IMG ACADEMY (Traded to Denver): Sanchez is an interesting player who committed to Memphis originally. He's rail-thin, but has promise.
| 36. Milwaukee Bucks |
ERSAN ILYASOVA, SF, ULKER (Turkey): Although he was considered a potential lottery pick at one point, the Turkish mystery man will likely stay in Europe for a few more years In the second round, he's worth a gamble.
| 37. L.A. Lakers |
RONNY TURIAF, PF, GONZAGA: After L.A. burned its first-round selection on a potential lottery ticket, I love what the Lakers did with pick No. 2, stealing a potential Brian Grant clone who plays with great fire.
| 38. Orlando Magic |
TRAVIS DIENER, PG, MARQUETTE It will be interesting to see if there is a spot for Diener given the presence of Steve Francis and Jameer Nelson. There's no doubt he's got great shooting range and can run a team, but he's probably physically unable to defend on the pro level.
| 39. L.A. Lakers |
VON WAFER, SG, FLORIDA STATE: Wafer left Florida State at least a year early, but to his credit, found a suitor. Among the first underclassmen to declare, no one fancied him a first-rounder. But after some work in the developmental league, he could eventually surface.
| 40. Golden State Warriors |
MONTA ELLIS, PG, LANIER HS (Miss.): Ellis jumped the gun by making himself available and signing with an agent, and now the road ahead is a tough one. He knows how to score and must mature into a better ball handler, but chin up young fella, Gilbert Arenas managed the feat on the same team that just drafted you.
| 41. Toronto Raptors |
ROKO UKIC, PG, KK Split (Croatia): Ukic will play in the NBA very soon, and the Raptors may have found their point guard of the future with this selection. He's a steal.
| 42. Golden State Warriors |
CHRIS TAFT, PF, PITTSBURGH: At one point, this kid was considered a lottery lock by some people and one of the finest physical specimens to in a while. Unfortunately, he never developed after a standout freshman year at Pitt, and cost himself millions of dollars by coming out a year early. He'll definitely play in the NBA, but will now be playing paycheck catch-up.
| 43. New Jersey Nets |
MILE ILIC, C, BC REFLEX (Serbia): Ilic joins Serbia & Montenegro national teammate Nenad Krstic -- the Nets can only hope the 21-year old is as promising.
| 44. Orlando Magic |
MARTYNAS ANDRIUSKEVICIUS, C, ZALGIRIS (Lithuania): Andriuskevicius has about 30 pounds to gain, but he will one day be a phenomenal steal for the Magic, and will be a scary complement to Howard in about 2009.
| 45. Philadelphia 76ers |
LOUIS WILLIAMS, SG, South Gwinnett HS (Georgia): Allen Iverson is one of this kid's heroes, so maybe he can give him a few pointers before he's sent to the developmental league. He should have gone to Georgia.
| 46. Indiana Pacers |
ERAZEM LORBEK, PF, CLIMANO BOLOGNA (Italy): Lorbek was sensational in Europe this past season, but was only marginal in his one season at Michigan State. Has he grown or is he simply more comfortable playing the European style? Probably both.
| 47. Minnesota Timberwolves |
BRACEY WRIGHT, SG, Indiana: If the Wolves were out to find undersized shooting guards who don't like to defend, they did a phenomenal job. Wright has injury concerns, too. Well done!
| 48. Seattle SuperSonics |
MICKAEL GELEBALE, SF, REAL MADRID (Spain): Gelabale is a solid athlete, with good fundamentals, who played a lot of minutes for Real Madrid last year. He joins Petro in the French invasion of the Great Northwest.
| 49. Washington Wizards |
ANDRAY BLATCHE, F, SOUTH KENT PREP (Conn.) People call this kid Dwight Howard-lite, and he's destined to really thrive in the NBDL for the next few seasons. If he develops, he'll be a steal. If he doesn't, no harm done.
| 50. Boston Celtics |
RYAN GOMES, PF, PROVIDENCE: Further evidence Ainge is great. Can I come work for you, Danny? I'd like a ring in a few years. You clearly don't need advisors, though. Gomes will play in this league for a long time.
| 51. Utah Jazz |
ROBERT WHALEY, PF, WALSH UNIVERSITY: Whaley was among the best prep prospects in the country years ago, but off-court problems derailed him. It's certainly worth seeing if he's matured.
| 52. Denver Nuggets |
AXEL HERVELLE, PF, REAL MADRID (Spain): The Nuggets wanted desperately to find someone they can develop overseas. In this Spanish-based Belgian, they have their man. Yawn.
| 53. Boston Celtics |
ORIEN GREEN, PG, La.-LAFAYETTE: The Celtics wasted no time selecting Greene, a superb athlete who might be a defensive stopper some day. It will likely be somewhere else though, as he has joining a stacked squad.
| 54. New York Knicks |
DIJON THOMPSON, SG, UCLA: The Knicks were fortunate with Trevor Ariza last year, so they'll raid the UCLA farm again for Thompson, a tall shooting guard who does plenty well but nothing great.
| 55. Seattle SuperSonics |
LAWRENCE ROBERTS, PF, MISSISSIPPI STATE: Roberts was deemed a little too slow and not big enough to be a significant factor in this draft, hence the freefall. His future likely lies in Europe.
| 56. Detroit Pistons |
AMIR JOHNSON, PF, WESTCHESTER HS (Los Angeles): Johnson was the Los Angeles H.S. Player of the Year and had a scholarship offer from Louisville waiting for him, but reportedly never got his grades in order. He might one day play in the NBA, but it won't be anytime soon.
| 57. Phoenix Suns |
MARCIN GORTAT, C, RHEINENERGIE KOLN (Germany): Gortat generated some buzz with his workouts. He's a Polish national playing well in Germany and certainly worth a second-round look.
| 58. Toronto Raptors |
UROS SLOKAR, PF, SNAIDERO UDINE (Italy): Slokar has been one of Europe's best-known prospects the past two seasons after dominating in his native Slovenia. Sorry, that's all we know.
| 59. Atlanta Hawks |
CENK AKYOL, SG, EFES PILSEN (Turkey): Efes Pilsen is Turkey's chief hoops power. Whether Akyol had something to do with that, couldn't tell you.
| 60. Detroit Pistons |
ALEX ACKER, PG, PEPPERDINE: Acker is a well-rounded guard with decent size. He needs to develop a full range of skills to find a home in the league.
