NEW YORK -- Zydrunas Ilgauskas missed Cleveland's game at New York on Wednesday night with a sprained left ankle, but the Cavaliers hope to have him back Saturday at New Jersey.
Ilgauskas was hurt in the first quarter of Cleveland's victory over Philadelphia on Tuesday night, and the Cavaliers decided to sit him out against the NBA-worst Knicks.
"If it was a life and death situation, he probably could, because all X-rays and stuff were negative," Cavs coach Mike Brown said. "But it's one of those things where we're going to err on the side of precaution."
The Cavs said Ilgauskas was considered day to day.
Ilgauskas was injury-prone early in his career, but has been durable in recent years. The veteran center has missed only one game this season and has played in 313 of a possible 320 games since the start of the 2001-02 season.
Ilgauskas is averaging 16.1 points and 7.7 rebounds.
