Hawks' Dennis Schroder: Signs four-year, $70 million extension with Hawks
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Schroder re-signed with the Hawks to a four-year, $70 million contract extension Wednesday, Marc Stein of ESPN.com reports.

The Hawks demonstrated they had full confidence in Schroder this offseason after shipping former starting point guard, Jeff Teague, to the Pacers at the end of June. Schorder turned in modest averages throughout the preseason schedule, but saw his minutes restricted on most nights and will have plenty of opportunities to operate as one of the Hawks' leaders offensively during the 2016-17 campaign. He's locked in for the next four years and should see his playing time start off at around 30 minutes right out of the gate during Thursday's regular season opener against the Wizards.

Hawks' Mike Scott: Misses practice with knee discomfort
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Scott was held out of Wednesday's practice due to soreness in his left knee, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The knee gave Scott trouble throughout the preseason, and it's apparently still an issue with Thursday's regular-season opener against the Wizards quickly approaching. The Hawks haven't commented on Scott's availability for that contest, so consider the reserve forward questionable until further notice.

Hawks' Tiago Splitter: Progressing in rehab
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Splitter (hamstring) was able to take part in individual work on Monday, KL Chouinard of Hawks.com reports.

Splitter was diagnosed with a Grade 2 hamstring strain just under two weeks ago and was originally slated to miss four weeks at the minimum. He appears to be on track in his recovery and was able to do some individual work Monday, although it was reportedly at just a moderate intensity. With Splitter sidelined at least another couple of weeks, he obviously won't be ready for the start of the season, which means we should see Mike Muscala and Walter Tavares open the season as Dwight Howards' top backups at center. Look for further updates from Splitter as he continues to progress through his rehab.

Hawks' Kyle Korver: Tallies preseason highs across stat sheet Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Korver collected 16 points (6-10 FG, 4-8 3Pt), six assists, four rebounds and a block over 30 minutes in Thursday's 97-81 preseason victory over the Bulls.

The Hawks have to hope Korver can carry over his red-hot shooting into the regular season after he managed a 60 percent success rate (12-for-20) from the field over his last three exhibitions, at tally that also saw him drain nine of his 17 three-point attempts over that span. Thursday's performance produced preseason highs across the stat sheet for the 14-year veteran, who heads into the season looking to improve on the 9.2 points per game he averaged in 2015-16, his worst figure in that category during his four Hawks campaigns.

Hawks' Kent Bazemore: Turns in best scoring effort of preseason Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bazemore totaled 15 points (7-13 FG, 1-5 3Pt), nine rebounds, an assist and a steal over 27 minutes in Thursday's 97-81 preseason victory over the Bulls.

Bazemore had a relatively quiet exhibition slate, with Thursday's scoring total marking only his second time hitting double digits on the scoreboard. However, his ability to fill out the stat sheet and above-average shooting should once again render him a productive fantasy option as he looks to build on the 11.6 points per game he tallied last season.
