Clippers' Chris Paul: Intends to opt out of contract
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Paul intends to opt out of his contract on June 29th, which would make him an unrestricted free agent, ESPN reports.

Paul will forgo the final year of his current deal with the Clippers, which is worth over $24 million, to hit the open market when free agency starts July 1st. While Paul is waiting for the final day possible to officially declare his intention, star forward Blake Griffin opted out of his final year on Friday. As a result, Los Angeles' two best players will be free to field offers from around this league next month, leaving the franchise with a humungous offseason ahead. At 32 years old, Paul averaged 18.1 points, 9.2 assists, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 2.0 three-pointers while shooting 41.1 percent from deep in 61 appearances this season.

Clippers' Blake Griffin: Opts out of contract
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Griffin (toe) has opted out of his contract, making him an unrestricted free agent, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports.

Griffin was scheduled to earn over $21 million during the upcoming season, but, as expected, he'll forgo that salary in search of a new long-term deal this offseason. While Griffin opting out doesn't come as a surprise, it does drive home the reality that he could leave Los Angeles this summer. At 28 years old, Griffin has averaged just over 21 points each of the last three seasons, while posting around eight rebounds and five assists per game the past two. Although he's ended back-to-back campaigns injured, Griffin still figures to be one of the five most-coveted free agents this offseason, giving the Clippers stiff competition to retain their star forward.

Clippers' Sindarius Thornwell: Dealt to Clippers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Thornwell has been trade to the Clippers, Shams Charania of The Vertical reports.

Thornwell was selected by the Bucks with the 48th overall pick in Thursday's draft, but it appears Milwaukee was making that pick on behalf of the Clippers. Expect the four-year college player to battle in training camp for a spot on the final, 15-man roster.
