Anthony had been subject of thinly veiled criticism from Jackson throughout the second half of this season, but in his year-end press conference Friday, the 71-year-old made no mistake that he sees Anthony's future elsewhere. Of course, Anthony would need to waive the no-trade clause that Jackson awarded him to make any move possible this offseason, but that decision is reportedly one Anthony is "leaning strongly" toward if the Knicks find a desirable destination for him. In 74 games this season, the 32-year-old Anthony, who still has two years worth roughly $54 million left on his contract, averaged 22.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists.
Plumlee scored 14 points (7-10 FG, 0-2 FT) and added 11 rebounds and one block in 26 minutes during Wednesday's 114-113 win over the 76ers.
Plumlee, a rookie, appeared in only 20 games this season, averaging only 8.1 minutes per game. Wednesday's performance easily set his career highs in points, rebounds, and minutes.
Holiday came off the bench and scored 20 points (6-10 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 6-7 FT) while adding five rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block in 20 minutes during Wednesday's 114-113 win over the 76ers.
Holiday ended the best season of his four-year career with his highest scoring game of 2016-17. Holiday saw some extra run over the final nine games, averaging 11.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.3 threes in 25.8 minutes. Holiday will be free agent this summer.
Holiday will return to the bench for Wednesday's game against the 76ers.
Holiday drew the start on Sunday against the Raptors, as Carmelo Anthony was sitting out. He ended up finishing with 10 points, five rebounds, five assist, one block and one steal across 40 minutes. While Anthony was fully expected to sit out the finale on Wednesday, he has surprisingly been activated and will start as usual, sending Holiday to the bench. Holiday likely won't come anywhere near the 40 minutes he saw Sunday, so look for a decrease in production across the board.
Anthony will be available to play in Wednesday's game against the 76ers, Ian Begley of ESPN.com reports.
It was reported on Tuesday that Anthony wasn't going to play, but it appears coach Jeff Hornacek has had a change of heart and will let Anthony take the court. It could be more ceremonial than anything considering this may be Anthony's last game played at Madison Square Garden, so it remains to be seen if he'll be on a full workload or restricted minutes. Either way, Anthony should take back his role as a starter and should at least get some minutes in his final game of the season.
