Trail Blazers' Ed Davis: Adds weight for start of camp
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Davis said Monday that he now checks in around 245 pounds, Jason Quick of CSN Northwest reports.

That's an increase of about 15-to-20 pounds from where Davis was at last season, as the big man made a commitment this summer to add more strength. According to Quick, Davis said he lifted five times a day and ate five or six meals a day, which should help him as he aims to play more center this season. While Davis' dedication in the weight room is admirable, it's difficult to see him earning a dramatic increase in playing time with starters Al-Farouq Aminu and Mason Plumlee and reserves Festus Ezeli, Meyers Leonard and Maurice Harkless all in the mix for playing time in the frontcourt rotation.

Trail Blazers' Meyers Leonard: Will open camp as limited participant
by RotoWire Staff | Special to

Leonard (shoulder) expects to be cleared for full contact on Oct. 8, Casey Holdahl of reports.

Earlier this offseason, Leonard said he hoped to be at full strength for training camp, but it appears he'll start practice as a limited participant after undergoing surgery to repair a dislocated left shoulder in March. Until Leonard is formally cleared, look for him to be limited to individual drills and other non-contact portions of practice. While coach Terry Stotts hasn't named his starters yet, it's expected that Al-Farouq Aminu and Mason Plumlee will start at power forward and center, respectively, leaving Leonard to take on a role off the bench as a three-point shooting big man.

Trail Blazers' Festus Ezeli: No timetable for return
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Ezeli (knee) said Thursday that he no longer has a definitive timetable for a return, Ananth Pandlan of CBS Sports reports. "I personally don't have a timeline," Ezeli said. "I'm taking it day by day because when it comes to this situation, you never go with a timeline. It will frustrate me if I go by a timeline. I just try to take it by how I feel so hopefully sometime soon I can get back on the court and start playing again."

The Trail Blazers initially outlined a six-week recovery timetable for Ezeli after he received a pain injection in his left knee in late August, but they'll row back their expectations for the big man, who battled knee issues throughout most of last season. Ezeli is projected to serve as the top backup to Mason Plumlee at center once he returns to full health, though with ample frontcourt depth on hand in Meyers Leonard, Ed Davis and Maurice Harkless, the Trail Blazers won't be in any rush to get Ezeli back on the court.
