Phillies' Cameron Rupp: Blasts 10th homer of season Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rupp went 2-for-4 with an RBI single, two-run homer and a walk in Friday's 4-0 victory over the Pirates.

The slugging backstop capped the scoring for the Phillies with a 415-foot shot in the ninth that plated Andres Blanco. It was Rupp's first homer since July 10, and he's now slashing .292/.358/.542 in July while also reaching double digits in RBI for the first time in a month this season.

Twins' Joe Mauer: Not in Saturday's lineup
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Mauer is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Red Sox, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

There has been nothing to suggest an injury is in play and he just rested last Sunday, so it seems Mauer's absence is largely due to his recent slump (4-or-26 since the All-Star break) and season-long struggles against left-handed pitching (.222/.271/.300). Lefty David Price is toeing the rubber for Boston on Saturday. Mauer's spot in the top third of the lineup against right-handers should be safe but he could ride the pine more often against southpaws down the stretch.

Astros' Jason Castro: Scratched from Saturday's lineup with hand contusion
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Castro, who took a foul tip off his hand in Friday's game, was a late scratch Saturday, the Houston Chronicle's Jake Kaplan reports.

A right hand contusion will keep him out of action Saturday, but considering he was in the initial lineup, it's likely not that serious. Evan Gattis, who was originally slated to be the DH Saturday, will start at catcher and hit eighth while Jake Marisnick was added to the lineup in left field.

Nationals' Ryan Zimmerman: Set for rehab game Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Zimmerman (ribs) will play in a rehab game Saturday at High-A Potomac, Mark Zuckerman of MASN reports.

Saturday marks 15 days since Zimmerman hit the disabled list, but he's not expected to remain unavailable for much longer. Barring a setback over the weekend, the expectation is that the veteran will be back with the Nationals on Tuesday. In his last rehab start Thursday, also at Potomac, Zimmerman wen 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored.

Nationals' Daniel Murphy: Blasts 19th homer in Friday victory
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Murphy went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Nationals.

The veteran infielder blasted a 393-foot shot in the eighth, extending his hitting streak to nine games and launching his fifth round-tripper over that span. Murphy has rebounded with a stellar July after a lackluster June, now slashing .333/.350/.737 over 57 at-bats this month.
