The "Grindhouse" name for the Grizzlies is pretty accurate. Because they're basically an action flick where all sorts of ridiculous things happen. I'm waiting for Mike Conley to get a game-winning shot off the back of a motorcycle on fire.

The Grizzlies finally took care of their hangover from last season. Some greasy food (gritty defensive play), a nice hot shower (Rudy Gay getting his shot back) and a good long nap (a move away from a dominant schedule) has helped them ease the headache.

Tough schedule, injuries all over, lack of depth, lack of cohesion. Oh, and the Bulls stole their wallet, lunch money and self-respect. So, no, not a great week for the Grizzlies.

There were a ton of warning signs in what would otherwise be an acceptable loss to the Spurs. Offensive imbalance, lack of ball movement, porous defense, and generally being outclassed.

Season's biggest surprise: Marc Gasol. He was the best Gasol in the league more often than not in 2010-11, which is saying a lot. Kudos to a vastly improved Mike Conley as well.
