Can you win an NBA title with an offense-first team? That's what Popovich is trying to do this season. And he may have a better shot than the Seven-Seconds-or-Less Suns. It would not be celebrated as such, but it would be an incredible accomplishment.

All of a sudden the Spurs have a chance at homecourt advantage through the entire playoffs.

"It's been a long time since I rock and rolled." The Spurs are finally back in the top spot, and despite having slipped a game behind Oklahoma City, are the baddest team in the land. Over the past 10 games, they've outscored opponents by 13.5 points per 100 possessions. That's absurd.

You get the feeling some unlucky team is going to be talking for years about what Manu Ginobili did to them this May. If a series is going to be decided by one player, you want it to be anyone but Ginobili, and that includes Tony Parker who has been an MVP candidate this year.

In the playoffs you win for one of two reasons -- superior talent or matchups. The only team in the West the Spurs can't out-talent is Oklahoma City, who they have matchup advantages against. Keep it in mind, as long as their defense keeps improving.

Thirteen seasons in contention for a title. The Spurs didn't build a palace -- they built an empire.

The Spurs would trade a week's salary just to skip to the regular season. They're healthy, they're playing well, and they're having fun. Life is good at the Alamo right now.

Spurs have built a decent division lead and are 8-3 against division foes. They look like a good pick to win that homecourt slot.
02/28/201244
Hot on the heels of the Thunder, the Spurs used the All-Star break to clear some of the time without Manu Ginobili while getting rested. The Spurs haven't been seen by most analysts yet, like the shark in "Jaws."

The Spurs have won 11 in a row. They are two more wins from sweeping the Rodeo Trip and are within shouting distance of the Thunder for the top spot in the West -- all while missing Manu Ginobili most of the season. These guys are the real-life version of a horror story you tell kids to make sure they do their homework.
