Warriors report: Notes, quotes

Notes, quotes · Roster · Getting inside

--The Warriors filled the void in the backcourt created by C.J. Watson's departure by signing Jannero Pargo to a two-year contract.

The seven-year NBA veteran will join Charlie Bell, acquired earlier this summer from Milwaukee, and undrafted rookie Jeremy Lin in competition for the reserve guard spots behind Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis.

The move gives the Warriors 13 guaranteed contracts for the 2010-11 season. The rest of the roster consists of centers Andris Biedrins and Dan Gadzuric and forwards David Lee, Brandan Wright, Ekpe Udoh, Vladimir Radmanovic, Dorell Wright and Reggie Williams.

--Somewhat surprisingly, the Warriors were selected to play in one of the league's marquee matchups -- a Christmas night meeting with the Trail Blazers.

The game will be played in Oakland. It will mark the first time in franchise history that the Warriors will play a home game on Christmas.

--Scott Roth, one of Don Nelson's assistant coaches last season, has joined the Raptors' coaching staff.

The loss was the second in the Warriors' coaching ranks this offseason. At the end of last season, longtime assistant Russ Turner left the organization to become head coach at UC Irvine.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"I'm going to go in there. I'm going to meet all the people. I'm going to evaluate what I see. Then I'm going to make informed decisions." -- Warriors co-owner Joe Lacob, on the process he will take in evaluating all current Warriors employees that will be inherited in the ownership change.
