Lakers report: Notes, quotes

The Sports Xchange

Notes, quotes · Roster · Getting inside

--Kobe Bryant has been reluctant to address his discontent with the state of the Lakers in recent publicity appearances, saying: "I'm not going to beat a dead horse in the head anymore."

--Rookie guard Coby Karl, son of Nuggets coach George Karl, was impressive for the Lakers' summer-league team in Las Vegas and should get an invitation to October training camp if he doesn't go elsewhere.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"There have been a ton of rumors about different players and what not, but I don't think we need to do that much." -- Luke Walton, on the Lakers' roster.

With the trade deadline roughly two and a half months away rumors are starting to trickle in pertaining to possible roster moves ect.  The Lakers clearly have a deficiency in terms of bench depth/production, an area that for all intents and purposes is the only chink in their armor outside of aging ...(more)

Still no Pau Gasol and were still doing good without him. Man Lakers is going to win it three to five years.  In what was billed as the biggest challenge for the Lakers in the early going, the defending champions answered in resounding fashion, thrashing the ...(more)

it's time for Derek Fisher to be relegated to the bench.  It pains me to say it because Fish has been nothing but class and professionalism since he became a Laker in 1996.  Coming out of a small college and overachieving to become a 4-time world champion are obvious testaments to his work ethic and commitment.  ...(more)

The way I see it, it's a no-brainer that the Lakers should sign Iverson, to join what is already the greatest show on earth. It's really a no-lose situation. The upside is, Iverson is still a pretty good offensive player, and would be a huge upgrade over Farmar, Sasha, Brown, even Fisher. Iverson would likely mellow out & except a reduc ...(more)

Ever since the Lakers traded Shaq away and gave full reign to kobe i never thought anyone would be as important to the success of the franchise than kobe.  But after seeing how the lakers have played without pau and how they played with him against Chicago I am a believer that ...(more)

The Lakers are playing real well. the bench is going to have to figure out how to play a little better.

I'll be reserving my prediction until a later date. I also won't be home to do the prediction results for Saturday's game....

Is there someone who can pick that up for me?

Lets be honest, our bench blows leads. Even with Lamar last year, our bench blew leads. I saw Phil do it last night and I hope he stays with his 8 man rotation.

Fisher Kobe Artest Pau and Bynum starting. And only Shannon Brown, Farmar, and Odom comming of the bench.
