--F Zach Randolph rang up 22 points and 17 rebounds against the Rockets after going for 29 points and 13 rebounds against Cleveland on Friday, and 22/13 at Minnesota on Wednesday. The man who was not named to the Western Conference All-Star team now has 37 double-doubles this season, including 23 20-point, 10-rebound games.
Randolph said he's trying to become a more vocal leader, but added, "I'd rather lead by example."
Grizzlies assistant coach Damon Stoudamire, who played on the last team with which Randolph made a playoff appearance (Portland in 2002-03), said he wants to see Randolph emerge even more as a vocal leader.
"Zach needs to show leadership because they need to have someone to follow," Stoudamire said. "It can't be the blind leading the blind. I think he can get the guys to heed the word he's preaching."
--PG Mike Conley, who had scored in double figures in eight of his previous 10 games before Saturday's loss at Houston, was awful against the Rockets. He scored just six points on 2-of-16 field goal shooting, including 0-for-5 from 3-point range.
"I don't think this game will shake our confidence," Conley said. "We've done a better job of handling losses."
