--G Vince Carter lives along the water in Weehawken, NJ. So on Thursday, he was stunned when he saw a plane land in the Hudson River. Carter saw the miraculous landing of US Airways flight 1549 that came down in the river after a flock of gulls jammed the engines.

"I was just sitting there, looking out the window," Carter said. "I was just sitting in the bedroom. I thought it was watching TV. It landed like it was a movie. It hit like nose first, and you could (hear) the impact. I couldn't believe it."

--The Nets had joked much of the season about their defense. But they made some legitimate advances and had moved from the bottom of the league to a 22nd ranking. They were improving.

But then they set themselves back a mile on Wednesday and Thursday. In Boston Wednesday, they surrendered 118 points while Boston shot 56 percent. Then on Thursday at home, they could not get stops when they needed them in the fourth quarter. Portland shot 68 percent and riddled the Nets' defense in a 105-99 triumph.

"It goes up and down, just like jump shots go in and out for us," said Devin Harris. "We've made some positive strides and we do it in stretches but to consistently do it is something we have to learn to do."

QUOTE TO NOTE
"Obviously, they're a good offensive team but we couldn't stop them. We tried to switch it up at the end but for everything we threw at them, their counters worked." -- G Keyon Dooling, on the Nets' inability to stop Portland in the fourth quarter Thursday.

The the Kris Humphries trade the Nets executed, it inspired me to think of other deals, like that the Nets could pull off since the trading deadline is approaching.

I say trade ...(more)

I've read rumors that the Nets are looking to trade him. He's played less time recently and he's been too outspoken about the Nets' struggles. I think this would be a great time to trade him because he's got some value and there's better players out there in next year's draft and free agency that probably would take his spot any way.

I was a big coach Frank fan, but I knew it was time for him to go.  Not because of his talent, skills, effectiveness, or dedication, but because the organization felt it was time for him to go.  Sometimes events run their course.  One of my favorite attributes about coach Frank was his ability to get the most out of anyone with talent.  Mikki Moore, B.Nacbar, ...(more)

Given the Nets projected $30 mill cap space for next year. Here are some moves I would like to see:

Draft John Wall with top pick.

Draft a backup 5 with second 1st round pick (from Dallas). We'll lose Josh Boone and

Taking my comment from another thread cause it's kinda off topic there, but in reference to this season....

Don't get me wrong, I'm not upset at what we have to look forward to in the future, and I can accept this year as a means to an end. That said, what I am pissed about is what could have been. We should have re-signed K-mart for max money when we had the chance. Was he worth max mo

Aside from his inconsistent season not played up to his potential, the Nets have lost some close games in which Devin Harris would've helped them win. For example, all 3 games the Nets played against the 6ers were without Devin Harris and decided by 4 points or less. ...(more)

I thought the Timberwolves were really bad (and they are) but i went to visit my mom in Jersey last month and we left Newark to go see the Nets play and I was like you know they cant be any worse than my beloved Wolves. Holy **** I was wrong. I have seen high school games with te ...(more)

I would love to keep this kid and have him come off the bench.  I really thought when he was drafted out of college he'd be a double double guy for his career.  He has showed those flashes in a couple games.  They knocked his D a little bit but really who plays D in the NBA anyway?  If he can score 12-15 a night of the bench give him some burn!

Not only is he a poor GM, he can now add pathetic coach to his resume. If I were a Net fan i would demand he be fired. Poor judge of talent, even worse coach.

When we started 0-18, I dismissed it as a combo of injuries and youth. In my mind there were worse teams in Nets history, and I figured Devin Harris was gonna get it going, Dooling could give something etc. Guess what..I was wrong. This IS the worst team in the hist ...(more)

(POLL) the Nets, if they end up with the worst record in the league, will have:
a 25 percent chance for the number 1 pick in the draft
a 46.5 percent chance for one of the top two picks in the draft (21.5 percent chance for number 2)
a 64.3 percent chance for one of the top three picks in the draft (17.8 pecent chance for number

Now that Najera is gone, I like the core that will be returning next season so I would want the Nets to remain the same until the lottery is over.

I've read rumors that they're looking to trade Josh Boone,

This guy is rumored to be available.  Is anyone besides me willing to trade our #1 for him?  I don't care about Wall at this point we need a good big man next to Lopez to dominate in the paint.  We have Harris to run the point we don't need Wall.  I've said over and over again on this board we need a complimentary to Lopez.  Look at what Randolph is doing in Memphis?  ...(more)

Besides Lee being a disappointment, i couldn't have scripted this season any better.

Just a side note: We're halfway through the season, and the Nets already have more losses than 14 teams had throughout the entire last season
