--In anticipation of the new Amway Center opening this fall, the Magic are holding a toilet flush ceremony at the facility on Sept. 8. Because the lack of toilet facilities were a major complaint at the Magic's previous home, they are doing to promotion as a way to emphasize the way they are catering to the fans in their new home. All 443 toilets at the new facility will be flushed simultaneously. They are calling it the Drano Royal Flush, for anyone interested.

--C Dwight Howard, who went to China and India this summer, will be co-host of a benefit concert Sept. 15 titled "Concert for a Cause. ... Remembering Haiti," at a local nightclub. Featured artists will include DJ Chino, Kevin Cossom, K. Michelle and Rupee. Howard also will be visiting Haiti to promote his program to help Haitian youths affected by the January earthquake.

--Both coach Stan Van Gundy and general manager Otis Smith received a contract extension that will take them through the 2012-13 season.
