--C Dwight Howard, often in foul trouble early this season, has shown improvement in that phase of his game. Against the Lakers Sunday, Howard got his third personal foul -- and had to leave the game -- with 2:27 remaining in the second quarter, casting a shadow over the Magic's halftime lead. Yet he returned in the second half and dominated the game because he didn't get another personal foul the rest of the way.
--F Earl Clark looks like the guy who losses the playing time now that Brandon Bass has returned. The unheralded Clark had scored 10, eight and 14 points in the previous three games, but he was limited to just 10 minutes Sunday. He still played well, hitting two of his three shots for six points.
--G Jameer Nelson can't seem to shake his shooting slump. In the last three games, Nelson has combined to make just one of 10 shots from long range. He missed all three of his three-pointers against the Lakers.
--C Dwight Howard suffered a cut under his right eye when he was hit with an elbow from Lamar Odom in the final two minutes. He went to the locker room and did not return. He should be ready to play Wednesday.
--F Brandon Bass (sprained left ankle) returned to action Sunday after missing six games. He was hurt Jan. 31, and he looked completely healthy again when he played in reserve.
