--Wizards coach Flip Saunders was pleased with how his team responded after John Wall's second-quarter ejection.
"We competed. You could see that they (the Heat) were a team that made big shots and made big plays. When you're a young team and you're playing against a veteran team or a team that's built to win a championship, when you either make undisciplined plays because you're anxious, they hurt you or you miss a rotation. But I thought our guys competed. We didn't back down at all. We competed and I think our team grew up a lot."
--Jordan Crawford took over point guard duties after John Wall's ejection, and exploded with 39 points and four assists in 46 minutes.
"After John got ejected, I just tried to do the best job that I could because he's a big part of the team. What he brings, you really can't replace. I couldn't believe they were actually thinking about throwing him out, especially since I couldn't really see what happened. Coach (Flip Saunders) came over to me and told me I might be running the point for the rest of the game and I just had to get ready for it. Right now we are just trying to get our chemistry right and finish off the rest of the season with as many wins as we can and start working on getting better for next season. It was really good that we didn't back down after what happened (Wednesday). I wish we could have won but we just have to move on from here. All of us really stepped out (Wednesday) and I thought we did great."
--Veteran Maurice Evans chipped in with 21 points and made it clear that the tough loss to the Heat was something of a moral victory.
"We're showing that we're more resilient now then when we started the year. We have been playing shorthanded now for a while and (Wednesday) John got thrown out. He does a great job running the team, getting the ball where it should go, and putting pressure on the defense. Everyone had to step up and Jordan (Crawford) did a great job taking over, scoring-wise that's what he does, and I was impressed by everyone's fight (Wednesday)."
