NFL investigator in charge of Bounty-gate resigns

By Josh Katzowitz | NFL Writer
While we continue to wait for the NFL to announce the punishment for the players involved in the Saints bounty program -- commissioner Roger Goodell said six days ago that a verdict was coming “soon”--the NFL official who headed up the investigation is resigning.

That's according to Pro Football Talk, which reports that Joe Hummel, the league's director of investigations, submitted a letter of resignation Friday. His last day in the NFL office will be at the end of May.

According to NFL.com, Hummel -- who has taken a senior security position at an unknown company -- has delayed his departure until the Saints investigation is complete.
