In the first five minutes of the game, guard Travelle Wharton, linebacker Rey Maualuga and defensive end Carlos Dunlap suffered knee injuries (safety Taylor Mays suffered what's thought to be a concussion later in the game), and though coach Marvin Lewis said afterward that Maualuga and Dunlap had suffered sprains, the news was much worse for Wharton -- who had to be carted to the locker room.
On Saturday, Lewis told reporters, including the Cincinnati Enquirer that the guard's season is likely over.
It's a big blow for the Bengals offensive line. Cincinnati signed the former Panthers guard to a three-year, $10 million deal in the offseason and he was considered to be a slight upgrade over last year's starter Nate Livings.
Now, however, the Bengals probably will look to Clint Boling to fill in for Wharton.
