Redskins Aldrick Robinson, Brandon Meriweather collide in pregame; both out for game

By Josh Katzowitz | NFL Writer

Entering Sunday, Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather, who had been battling a bum knee, was probable to play. But after a weird collision in the pregame, he has been ruled inactive along with Washington receiver Aldrick Robinson.

Both players were warming up, and while Meriweather was running a route toward the end zone, Robinson was looking at the ground in the end zone. As Meriweather attempted to catch the pass, he slammed into Robinson.

Meriweather, who was set to play in his first game this season, limped off the field. Robinson remained on the turf for an estimated 10 minutes and eventually walked off the field after team trainers tended to him.

As the Washington Times' Rich Campbell wrote, “What a mess.”
