With running back Rashard Mendenhall playing in his second game of the season, most wouldn't have expected Isaac Redman to play such a big role in the Steelers offense on Thursday vs. the Titans.
Although Mendenhall only gained six yards on his six carries in the first three quarters, Redman caught four passes for 105 yards and added another 15 on the ground. But with less than 5 minutes to play in the third quarter, Titans linebacker Colin McCarthy's helmet blasted Redman in the leg and the running back had to leave the game with an ankle injury.
He limped off the field gingerly, but his return to the game is probable. Meanwhile, Mendenhall is questionable to return with an Achilles injury.
Already, the Steelers have lost center Maurkice Pouncey for the game while Marcus Gilbert and Ramon Foster also have been injured. Foster has returned to the game and Gilbert is on emergency standby, but now, the Steelers only have five healthy offensive linemen.
As the team announced just before he got hurt, Redman is the first Steelers running back to reach 100 receiving yards in a game since 1970.
