Chris Johnson finally praises offensive line, credits 'tremendous' work agianst Steelers

By Will Brinson | NFL Writer

Chris Johnson had a rare, decent night on Thursday against the Steelers. The Titans running back rushed for 91 yards and caught four balls for 23 yards in Tennessee's surprising 26-23 victory.

Johnson, who hasn't been effusive with his praise, handed out compliments to the offensive line following the game.

"They did a tremendous job, getting on those guys up front and pushing them back and giving me some room to run," Johnson said per the Tennessean. “If I'm not doing what I have to do and they're doing what they have to, it's not going to work. And if I'm doing what I need to do and they're not, it's not going to work, either. So we need each other."

Up til now, neither party was doing what they were supposed to. The line was blocking poorly for Johnson, and the running back wasn't hitting even the biggest of holes they provided.

Even on Thursday, he didn't maximize the spacing they provided. There were several incidents in which the line created large gaps for CJ?K to run through, and he hesitated before cutting and moving upfield.

As a result, even though Johnson picked up 91 rushing yards, much of his night looked more like a Dancing With the Stars audition than a quest for getting back to 2,000 yards.
