Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe has been an outspoken advocate on several political and social issues, most recently championing the cause of marriage equality. Earlier this month, Kluwe wrote an editorial in the St. Paul Pioneer Press in response to an editorial written by former teammate Matt Birk.
You may not agree with everything Kluwe says, but he's smart, thoughtful and open-minded. There are worse things you can say about a person.
Now, according to the StarTribune.com, Kluwe is going all Clint Eastwood on us and will debate a chair. Not over the failings (perceived or otherwise) of the current president but ahead of Minnesota's proposed marriage amendment. According to the proposal, if the amendment is adopted "A section shall be added to (Minnesota constitution that reads) Only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in Minnesota."
Kluwe has invited amendment supporters to the debate, including U.S. Representative Michelle Bachmann and Birk. The event is open to the public and Twin Cities radio personality Tom Barnard will moderate.
