|Who ya got? Megatron vs. Optimus Prime (US Presswire)|
Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman likes to talk. He's also one of the league's most physical young corners, which will come in handy when Seattle faces Detroit -- and Sherman squares off against Calvin Johnson who, you may have heard, also goes by Megatron.
In preparation for the get-together, Sherman has changed his Twitter name to Optimus Prime, making Sunday's matchup not just about football but good vs. evil.
Of course, as Yahoo.com's Doug Farrar notes, the Wikipedia definition of Optimus Prime leaves a little something to be desired in the super hero department: " (Prime is) secretly plagued by self-doubt and a conflicted sense of pacifism that often makes him an extremely reluctant warrior."
Either way, Sherman doesn't sound worried.
"Same challenge as it is every week," he said Wednesday of facing Johnson. "It ain't no different to me. I don't care who's out there -- it's the NFL, and you're going to have a good receiver out there every week. Whether it's Fitz (Larry Fitzgerald), Steve Smith, Brandon Lloyd … it ain't no different. Good receiver. I look forward to it every week. Get my hands on someone."
Sherman's not lying. He will put his hands on you and a lot of times it goes uncalled (he also has 11 passes defended this season, tops in the league).
But you know who else isn't worried? Megatron. He was asked Thursday about Optimus Prime Sherman.
And who knows, if the Seahawks win maybe Sherman will tweet a photo of a dejected Johnson after the game. Caption suggestion: "Transform and roll out," which, we believe, is Autobot for "U mad bro?"
