Bears re-sign QB Josh McCown

With Jay Cutler's availability this week in question afte he suffered a concussion Sunday, the Bears announced they've re-signed quarterback Josh McCown to back up Jason Campbell in case he has to play in place of Cutler this week.

After replacing Cutler on Sunday, Campbell went 11 of 19 for 94 yards, but he didn't turn the ball over to keep Chicago in the game vs. the Texans.

Until the Bears signed McCown, there were no other quarterbacks on the Chicago roster.

McCown was the team's third-string quarterback last year, and he was elevated to No. 2 when Cutler suffered a season-ending injury and Caleb Hanie took over as starter. But Hanie was so bad in leading the Bears to an 0-4 record that McCown started the final two games of the season, going 1-1.

In three games for the Bears last season, McCown completed 35 of 55 passes (63.6 percent) for 414 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions.
