Report: Saints RB Darren Sproles won't play against Raiders
Darren Sproles looked like he might get some game action for the Saints against the Raiders on Sunday and was tracking well to be active with a limited role. But in somewhat stunning news, he'll reportedly be deactivated for New Orleans.
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports the Saints will not activate Sproles and instead will give him one more week of rest.
Darren Sproles, barring a very surprising, sudden change in thinking, will be DEACTIVATED later today to give that wrist one more wk to rest

The news is a bit surprising, but maybe it shouldn't be: both Chris Ivory and Mark Ingram have been fairly effective over the past two weeks and should see a relatively heavy workload against the Raiders.
Having multiple options at running back means the Saints can risk keeping Sproles inactive and letting him rest. They obviously want to win -- starting 0-4 makes just about every game a must-win event -- but putting Sproles in for limited action and risking further injury to his wrist doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
